Lake Garda – a deep blue lake within three regions
Lake Garda (Lago di Garda in Italian) is shared by three different regions of Italy: South Tyrol to the north, Veneto to the east, and Lombardy to the west. Because of the region’s mild climate and the many different water sports opportunities the lake is a popular destination for vacationers. Ferries and hydrofoils connect the most important towns along the lake.
At the north end of the lake the health resort Riva del Garda invites the visitor to relax, stroll through town, and explore the surrounding area. At the south end of the lake the village of Sirmione is located on a peninsula that reaches far into the lake. On the west bank of the lake the small town Salo is situated on a charming bay.
The lake with its numerous campgrounds is also a popular destination for campers. If you choose to stay on Lake Garda, you can easily take day trips to places like Venice, Verona and Brescia. |
